  I do not live in town but stop in when I am in the area. I have never had a bad experience, the selection is amazing for such a (not so gigantic Big box store) and the prices are ok compared to other hardware stores, the few that still survive. The Major is a top notch guy and has a serious, disciplined demeanor that some may confuse with unflattering intensity. I assure you he is one of the many decent merchants in the area. He is also extremely helpful in finding what you need and donates quite often to area schools and organizations. I salute the Major whenever I see him, and it is not just that I am a veteran, he has my full respect as person. (War)

  When I started my local handyman business about a year ago, I shopped mainly in the "big box" highway stores. While working locally, I decided to try Major Hardware where I met Pete, Gerry, and Bill. Not only were they extremely helpful and knowledgeable, but their prices were very close to what I would have paid on the highway. In my business time is money and a quick run to Major saves me plenty of time and therefore makes my customers happy. The depth of their inventory, their ability to order and receive needed items quickly, usually next day and most of all Gerry's 51 years in this business provide guidance that you'll NEVER receive on the highway. The Foodtown parking lot provides ample parking even on the busiest of days. And for those of us who appreciate a pleasant shopping experience, I recommend the cookies/cakes/pastries that always seem to be on the counter for all to enjoy.
